Raglan Backpackers

The hostel is located on the water’s edge of Raglan’s beautiful harbour and looks out across the water to Mt Karioi. The resort style backpacker provides a comfortable and clean stay in the heart of Raglan, only a one minute walk from the many cafés and artisan shops.

In the centre of the complex is a private courtyard garden, which features hammocks, outdoor furniture and a sauna. Once the sun went down and the night chilled off, I moved into the living room and sat by the cosy fire.

Accommodation ranges from dorm rooms, private rooms or a room in the water front holiday house. This two story house is adjacent to the hostel and has its own living room, kitchen and bathroom. All the staff are young, friendly and very helpful. Most of them are travellers themselves and have some great stories to share with guests.

Of course you can’t visit Raglan without going surfing or at least taking a visit to one of the surfing beaches. We opted for the second option as the surf was quite big on the days we were there. Surfing lessons and a full range of surf gear are available for hire from the backpackers. Daily transportation to Raglan’s sandy surf beaches is also provided.

Infrared Sauna...awesome after a surf!

Magic Mountain Treks

Magic Mountain is the only place in the world where you can see 3 harbours & 4 mountains in one trek. Close to Raglan's beaches & the Bridal Veil Falls yet secluded & tranquil - a magical spot!

Catering for couples, children, family groups and corporate groups Magic Mountain Treks is a great way to see Raglan. We rode their beautiful horses over farmland for about two hours to the magnificent Bridal Veil Falls.

It is an easy walk into the top of the Falls and about a 20 minute walk return to the bottom. The walk has several look out points that offer impressive views of the falls. The waterfall is set in 218 hectares of native bush reserve with a 55-metre cascade. It is just spectacular!
